GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING. At, a meeting of the General Committee of the Taranuki A.-und P. Society, hekl on Saturday, the following were present: —Messrs. W. B. Grant "(President), Jf. 0. Sampson, .1. A. lvurth, G. W. Browne, C. Dobson, A. S. Frost, Z. T. Walker, A Turnbull, B. Honeyiield, W. Hall, A. P Lister, C. W. Reube, Herbert Ward, T. Dickson, A. T. Moore, W. McKenziu, J. K. Rowlands, and S. Vickers. An application by Mr. 0. N. Firth, on behalf of the New Plymouth Gun Club, for use of the Society's grounds for shoots, was referred to the Grounds Committee, with a request to confer with the Club, and report to a further meeting of the Committee. A protest was lodged by T. H. Weston against the award in class 99 at the Show on the ground that a competitor exhibited more than kinds of vegetables as specified in the schedule. Class 99 reads: —"Collection of vegetables on space 9ft s 4ft, grown by exhibitor, not more than eight kinds. It was stated that the protest arose out of an exhibition of two lots of beet, the silver, and the ordinary root beet. After discussion it was decidei that the decision of the judge be upheld, Members were of opinion, however, that the definition of the class needed some revision before next Show. Mr. Henry Benton (Vogeltown) wrote tendering his resignation on account of departure from the district.—The President stated that the executive had com' munieated with Mr, Benton, expressing appreciation of his services to the Society. On behalf of the Plunket Society, Mrs. G. Stuart Russell wrote tendering thanks for the area allotted to the Society at the Show, and also for the courtesy extended by all Show officials. A vote of condolence was passed to Mr. E. D. Ansford and relatives in their bereavement, by the death of Mrs. Ansford. A vote of thanks was accorded to the following for donations to the Winter Show:—Mr. J. Shepherd (donation of cake); Mrs. T. Smellie (ham); Mr. N Hill (cushion); Mr. W. R. Leighton (doll's furniture); Mrs. B,rooker (doll); S. B. White and Sons (cushion); Inglewood Bacon Factory (ham); Mrs, A. B. Leech (tea cosy and eggs); Mrs. Kidd, Westown; Mrs. A. W. Yeates (eggß): E. Beale (honey); E. Haskell (loan of sheep for guessing competition); W. McKenzie (loan of pony for competition); L. Hoffmann (loan of piano); E. J. Rowe (donation of model house); Jockey Club (loan of gas copper); Messrs. N Hill, T. Smeflie and B. Blackhall (weightguessing); also to doorkeepers. Consideration of remits to be dealt j with at the conference of A. and P. Societies at Wellington on 7th inst., occupied some time. The President will represent the Society at the meeting.
