(Stratford Representative: Vf. J.\ Wilson, Broadway North. 'Piione S3B. P.O. Box 125.) MAGISTRATE'S COURT. ■Stratford, July 2. A sitting of tlie Magistrate's Court was held to-day, before Mr. T. A. B. Bailey, S.M. Judgment by defafilt was given in tlie case Taranaki Hardware Co. V. Alex. Klce, claim £8 (is 8d and costs £1 3s M. On a judgment summons, T. McDonald was ordered topay G. E. Wilson £S 10s 3d forthwith, in default eight days' imprisonment. 0, H. Bridger (Mr. A. Coleman) claimed from S. B. Hunter (Mr. T. C. Fookes) £27 9a 7d for goods supplied and work done. After hearing evidence, judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount claimed, with costs £3 12|. GENERAL. Six civil sittings were, held in the Stratford Magistrate's Court during the quarter ended June 30. The amount sued for in civil <!ases was £ 13G9 17s 6d, and the amount recovered £736 13s 6d; 103 plaints were issued, 18 judgment summonses, 5 distress warrants, and 4 warrants of committal. The civil fees collected totalled £7O 10s, and the criminal fees £9 5s 6d, fines collected totalling £45 lis. The Stratford Sports and Pastimes Club is moving in the direction of securing a fight between Cann (Wanganui) and Facoorey (Wellington) for the New Zealand bantam . championship. It is lipped to have the fixture eventuate in Stratford in the first week in August. At the Stratford District High School yesterday, a presentation was made to Miss Laura Clemow, who is severing her connection with the school. Mr. Tyrer (headmaster), in presenting Miss Clemow with a number of presents from the pupils and staff, referred to the fact that she had joined the school as an attendant in the infant room, and gone through the primary and secondary schools, and was now leaving with the reputation of being one of the beat teachers in the province.

Mr. E. Masters, M.P., returns to Stratford by the mail train this (Saturday) evening. He will be pleased to meet those constituents desirous of seeing him at his office on Monday morning. Mr. F. Mehrtens, who is farming at Pukengahu, met with a nasty accident on Friday. He was cleaning a drain, and found it necessary to use gelignite" to remove a stump. The charge failed to explode, and Mr. Mehrteng was returning to ascertain the cause of the trouble when it went off, injuring one of his feet. Dr. Steven, of Stratford, was communicated with, and found that Mr. Mehrtens had sustained someflfractures of the bones of his foot. A quiet, but pretty, wedding took place at .the Stratford Methodist Church yesterday, when Mr. Wm. E. Lucas, of Lowgarth, was married to Miss M. Hatcher, daughter of Mr. Hatcher, of Stratford. Rev. L. B. Neale officiated. Mr. Hatcher, jun., was groomsman and Miss Hatcher bridesmaid. "GINGER MICK."

This, coming from a religious organ, adds the finishing touch to the universal opinion that C. J. Dennis' works appeal to all classes of the community. Mr. Raymond Longford, who produced and directed "The Sentimental Bloke," has made a superlative six-reel picture of "Ginger Mick," the world's exhibiting rights of which have been acquired by Mr. K. J. Carroll, and it will be shown for the first time in Stratford at the King's Theatre, for one night only, on Wednesday, July 7. The box plan is open at the Marble Bar, Stratford.
