A MEETING STOPPED.
TROUBLE WITH SUGAR WORKBRS. CAUSE NOT DISCLOSED. By Telegraph.—Press Association.' Auckland, Last Night. A stop .Work meeting of the Sttgar Workers' Union was to have been fceld at the Chelsea sugar Tefinery on Saturday morning, but owing to the Uftlon being refused permission to hold it on the premises, the meeting did not eventuate. t The secretary to the Union states that he and Mr. Bartram, M.P., were refused admission ts the works, and this was also withheld when A promise *a» given that he and Mr. Bartram would not interfere with the men employed, hut would confine the Visit to investigation of conditions, The company had obtained the services of two policemen to see that the company's wishes Were observed. . The management of the sugar company, while not admitting the accuracy of the secretary's statement, will not make any pronouncement at' present. Members of the Union are koldinfc a meeting to-day tc~d>cuss the position. No decision has yet been reached.
