WOOLLEN INDUSTRY.

ABB PROFITS EXCESSIVE! (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) ] Wellington, Last Night. The report of the decision of the Fftir Profits Commission that the Government be urged to take control of the Victorian woollen industry on account of the undue profits being made in it, was brought under the notice of the President of the Board of Trade (Mr. Lee) in the House of Representatives to-day. Mr. G. Forbes quoted the newspaper account of what had occurred in Victoria, and asked the Minister whether he would have a similar investigation made into the operations of the woollen manufacturing; concerns of this country, and if it should be found that the profits could not be controlled in any other way, would the Minister undertake control as recommended by the Fair Profits Commission in Victoria. The question, he stud, was a burning one in the country, and something ought to be done to clear up the question of whether the woollen manufacturing people were making undue profits. Mr. Lee said that he had already stated in the House that an enquiry was being made by the Board of Trade into this matter. When the enquiry was concluded, and the result of it made known to him he would decide whether further action should be taken, and if such should be justified lie would not fail to adopt it.
