The Public Service Association carvied, among other remits: That the association use every constitutional means to secure such a rateable increase in salaries as will place Public Servants at least on the pre-war basis, assessed oh the basic wage of £lB5 per annum, subject to reduction in tJt# went of the cost of living being reduced; .that all officers, including the Public Service Commlssipner, be compulsorily retired on completing forty years' service. ARBITRATION COURT. Dunedin, July 1. The Arbitration Court dismissed an application by the Dunedin and Mosgiel Woollen Mills Union and the Oamani Woollen Mills Union to vary the Otago and Southland, Canterbury, Wellington j and Northern industrial districts federated wooilen employees' award. The Court held that the applications could not be obtained for the reason that it was not properly before the Court, inasmuch as the War Legislation Act required such applications-to be made by a party to the award; These Unions were not parties to the award, and had no locus standi to make an application to amend the award. The proper party to make Mich an npplicatfcm, if it thought proper to do so, was the Association of Workers which was a party to • the award, and of which the two unions mentioned were only constituent unions.
