THE NEXT DAVIS CUP. VENUE STILL UNDECIDEa By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, July 1. The annual meeting of the-Lawn Tennis Association, including the New Zealand delegates, Messrs. Baxter and Fox, authorised the initial expenditure for preparing the Auckland .ground for the Davis Cup matches, but did riot definitely agree to the matches being played In Auckland till the consent of the challenging nation 1 was obtained. Mr. Colquhonn, who vffis re-elected president, suggested maintaining the substantial balance which the association possessed in view of the possibility of having to send teams to the other side of the world. He strongly disapproved of the practice of accepting belated entries for the Davis Cup, except under very exceptional circumstances. A letter was received from the American Tennis Association asking support for a ladles' competition on the lines of the Davis Cup. The conference decided that, as the International Association did not favor new competitions the Australian Association could not see Its way at present to participate in the competition. BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS. Received July 1, 9.40 p.m. London, June 30. At Wimbledon, Mrs, Lambert Chambers defeated Miss Ryan, 6—2, singles, and will now oppose Mademoiselle Lenglen in the final for the championship. In the men's doubles, Klngscote and Parke defeated Dodd and Blackboard (South Africa), 6—3, 4—! i, 6—3, 4—6, 7—5. In the milxed doubles Patterson and Mile. Lenglen defeated Shlmldzu and Mrs Lambert Chambers, 6—2, 7—5 —Ausl-N.Z. Cable Assn.
