The trustees havo further covenanted to acquire the freehold if possible by Legislative enactment, and we have agreed to purchase the same for £l7flo within five years from the commencement cf the lease, namely, November 1, 1919. "The making of new greens' has called for the most careful supervision on the part of . those concerned whicli goes without say.ng# J Faulty workmanship at any stage of their , making would for all time mar the pleasure of . those xtfio would übc them, and your com- j mittee with a full sense of this respon- J aibilKy have tried to provide greens of which the club in years to come may feel justly proud. The club has been particularly fortunate in having as expert adviser, Mr. W. Special mention must also be iraade to Mr. C. N. Johnston, the green warden, who has devoted considerable ttmo and energy. "The cost of making the new greens has been heyrwid the estimate of the committee, but this is net an unusual experience In these abnormal times, work of this kind calls for minute and exacting attention This attention has been given, and the cost of making the two greens to date is £548, with the banks yet to be turfed, and planting to be done. "To provide the funds for carrying out the above work it wns necessary until such tVne as our present property was disposed of to make arrangements^Avith the bank to overdraw, the balance-sheet discloses what has been done in this direction.
