INGLEWOOD COUNTY.
. NOMINATIONS FOR FIRST COUNCIL. I -Nominations for the election of nine councillors to form the first Inglewood County Council closed at noon yesterday with the returning officer (Mr. F. A. Lloyd, county clerk), at Inglewood, and the interest evinced in county matters bv ratepayers is sjiown by the fact that in three out of the four ridings there will be contests, and elections will be held on Wednesday next- at various ; centres. In one riding three members are returned unopposed. The area comprised by the old Moa Road district has been divided into three ridings, viz., South, West, and North. In the South Riding, Messrs. A. E. Cowley, J. M. Hair and Pv. Jones, are returned unopposed. The two former were members of the Moa Road Board. In the South Riding, Messrs. J. Hunter and J. H. Lyon, members of the present riding, are opposed by Messrs. J. Diggins and 11. Sander. In the West Riding, Messrs. A. Corkill, J. B. Simpson, R. Stuart, and D. Todd are contesting the three seats. All are 'members of the present Road Board, named having been chairman fhr ainumber of years. In the East Riding, wlTieh comprises the portion of the Ngatimaru Riding ceded from the Clifton County, Messrs. M. S. Cameron, R. Paterson and W. Topping are contesting one seat. It will thus be 'seen that eight-of the present board members are seeking re-election. Sir. T. S. Bowler, the other member, # who resides in the West Riding, has declined nomination.
