WAR RELIEF.

THE TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. At the usual meeting of the Taranaki War Belief Association, held at Stratford yesterday, there were present: j Messrs W. P. Kirkwood (Stratford, chairman), W. E. Percival (lnglowood), j vY. J. Chancy (New Plymouth), I'. Mills ' (Hawcra), W. Atkinson (North Taranaki), K. A. Washer (Farmers' Union), 1 M. C, Crighton, li.S.A., T-lawera), J. F. Stevenson (Mauaia), and D. S. Tosland (County of Eginont). Apologies were received for the absence of Messrs C. A. Larcombe (Patea), ; E. H, Young (Stratford), and G. W. Taylor (Elt.ham). A lengthy communication was read from Mr. L. H. Tripp (chairman of the Advisory Board), regarding the inauguration of a scheme for the assistance of permanently disabled soldiers, and it was decided to reply, pointing out that the Taranaki Association, having already adopted a scheme of its own, cannot participate in the pooling of funds from the whole Dominion. Regarding the contention that every case should be considered on its merits, economically, a's against the degree of physical disability, the Association was of opinion that eventually the latter method would be found the most equitable. A large schedule of P.D.S. and sundry relief cases was dealt with, the amount involved under the former heading being about £2-KK). It was decided to. inform branches bv circular letter that all P.D.S. cases not in before the August meeting cannot be dealt with this year. ; Answering a question by Mr. Crighton as to what had been done to ascertain the number of cases in hospital, the secretary said that all hospitals had been written to, and as the result a fairly lengthy schedule had been compiled, \
