INFLUX OF ASIATICS.
THREAT TO NEW ZEALAND. GOVERNMENT TAKING ACTION. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Wellington, Last . Night. The influx of Asiatics was the subject of a question put to the Prime Minister by Mr..Poland (Ohinemuri). During the last six months, said Mr. Poland, at least 400 Chinese and 180 Hindus had landed at the port of Auckland. Asiatics were entering the Dominion in largely increased numbers, and a serious menace to the social life of the community was threatened. The Returned Soldiers' Association had rightly taken up the matter, and the Government ought to indicate its attitude. Mr. Massey replied that some weeks ago the Government had given in: structions for the drafting of a Bill dealing with Asiatic immigration. This 1 will be submitted to Parliament in due course, probably within two or three weeks.
