CUSTOMS DUTIES.
A SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE. There wag a substantial increase in the Customs duties collected'' at New Plymouth for the month of Jun» t over the amount collected for the same period last year, but there was a slight. Increase in'the amount ol beer duty'collected. The figures wen Bupplied last night by Mr. H. D. Butcher, oetisgCollector of Customs, and the details are as follows: 19*20 1019 £ a. d. &. «. d. Net Customs W,421 13 0 5596 18 2 Beer Duty 229 0 8 237 10 1 v This brings the total Cuato&l duty collected at New Plymouth for tin last quarter to £29,559 6g Id, whicfc lows an increase of £9851 14s 2d on Dm corresponding period of last year. The .beer duty collected during the three taonths j mounted to £B2l 18s 7d, an jasrogse of £164 8s 34 over 1919.'
