Tilden's cross-court volleys and back hand play finally won him the match. Mavrogordato, playing with great steadiness defeated Williams (the American), by (I—:i, 4—B, 9—7, 7—5. Shimld7.u defea'ted Willford, 6—o, 6—o, o—2. In the doubles, Doust and Prebblc defeated Watt and Beamish, 6—l, C—3, C—4; Johnston and Tllden defeated Raymond and Wlnslow, 6—2, o—4, 6—2. Tllden and Garland and Shlmldzu and Mavrogordato, will contest the semi-final.—Aus-N.Z. Cable Assn.
