THE MINERS' DISPUTE.

• ARBITRATOR NOf ACCEPTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, June 28. The Coal Mine Owners' Association has accepted Mr. Massey's proposal that Mr. F. V. Eraser (Assistant FuMic Service Commissioner) should act as arbitrator in the coal miners' dispute. Mr. Arbuckle (secretary of the Miners' Federation) has replied to Mr. Massey that the miners cannot accept Mr. Fraser. He does not doubt Mr. Fraser's impartiality, but wants someone who understands the conditions in the coal mines, and suggests Mr. P. Hally. Mr. Arbuckle states that he has been instructed not to agree with any other basis of settlement other than that suggested by Mr. Massey to the owners and rejected by them."
