EVERYBODY'S. ANITA STEWART IN ''ITI'UAN DESIRE." Babies —all kinds of tliem—rich, poor, heirs ami foundlings, are the keynote of Anita Stewart's latest. First National feature, "Human Desire" The story deals with a quaint, unconquerable mother instinct in a girl who is an inmate of a convent. Forceful, compelling and at all times pleasing the picture hits :t note that is different, and besides furnishing a splendid role for the' lovely little star, that fits her like a glove, it Has an undoubted human appeal to all lovers of children. The screening nights are to-night and to-morrow at Everybody's. There are a fine lot of supporting pictures, including another "Stingaree" story; "The Black Hctfe of Glenranald," a Chester-Outing scenic, and the English Pathe Gazette. THE PEOPLE'S. LAST NIGHT OF "THE FLAME OF LIFE." " "The Flame' of Life" is the first featlire of the Swedish Bio Co. to reach New Zealand, and if this class of picture is anything like the standard of the European films, as many more as can be produced will be heartily welcome. There is a freshness, a sincerity, a reality about this picture that is all too rare. The acting is not merely a clever performance, it is a true depiction 4 of life itself. Jlvery a tist has 'been specially chosen for his or her part, and fits" into the whole story perfectly. „The photography is a revelation of beauty—wonderful landscape and river scenes. ■ being particularly pleasing—and the settings are excellent in every respect, and .the scenes of rural life Sweden add an interest as well as a charm. May Allison is charming in the ftae Metro comedy play, "The Uplifters," and the bill inclines the latk est gazette.
