MIDDLE EUROPE UNREST. 'A SERjIOUiS SITUATION. By Telep&ph.—press Assn.—Copyright. London, June 24. The Daily Mail says that the War Office is appealing for reservists and asking ex-soldiers to enlist in the reserve. The situation in the Near and Middle East is viewed seriously owing to the aggressive and dangerous attitude of Kemal Pasha's troops, which number between 15,000 and 20,000, and additional British troops are needed. Marshal Foch and ' General Wilson are preparing plans for the defence of the Gulf of Ismid, Smyrna, and the Dardanelles. Kemal Pasha commands 5000 men, and is regularly reinforced from Asia Minor. ' The Allies have 40,000 men around Constantinople, including British 12,000, Anglo-Indians 16,000, and French 10,000, while there are 10.QOO Greek troops in Smyrna. It is impossible to denude Constantinople of troops in the event of the Natiwialista advancing.— United Service. TURKS CONDEMN TREATY. BITTER ATTACK ON ENGLAND. There have been no further attacks by the Nationalists on Ismid, but the situation is dangerous while Mustapha Paßha commands 15,0'00 men and the British have a force only designed to police Constantinople, rather than to defend the capital, which is the real objective of Mustapha's advance.—-Aus.-N.Z.
