By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Two earthquakes in quick succession, the most severe for years, occurred in Los Angelos county. A number of buildings and tall chimneys collapsed at Inglewood. People in restaurants and theatres were seized with panic. No fatalities occurred, but many people were injured by tumbling debris. The damage amounts to hundreds of-thous-ands of dollars. The police in New York have discovered plots among colored Bolsheviks, who, under the name of the Ethiopian Order of the Black Star, have been conducting a so-called African republic movement. They held a mysterious midnight meeting at which alleged prophets were garbed in cast-off robes of fraternal societies, with much fancy ritual and inculcated religious fanaticism. A parade of members of the order on Sunday night culminated in serious rioting, two whites being killed. The Federal Council of Switzerland has consented to the appointment of a Papal Nimico at Berne, the first since the controversies of 1873-74," when Nuncio Mcrmillob was expelled. A number of encounters occurred between Italians and Albanians, the latter suffering heavy losses. Twenty thousand demonstrators at Tokio condemned the Government for the recent massacre of the Japanese garrison at Nikolaievsk. Some members of the crowd attempted to reach Count Hara's residence in order to demand liis resignation, but the police dispelled them. Diplomatic circles in Argentine, consider the Chilian purchase of three warships from' Britain an indication that the Tacna-Arica dispute which is menacing South American peace will tie speedily settled. The vessels give Chili such a naval predominance that Pern, it is believed, will be compelled to accede to the demands of Chili. Berlin telegrams state that Herr Fellrenbach has accepted the Chancellorship, and the formation of a Cabinet is practically assured. Kutehit Khan's ft/rces, supported by Bolsheviks, attacked 400 Persians at Resht and forced them to surrender.

Vickers', Limited, an airship, the RBO, with a speed of fifty miles for touring, with a range of 0500 miles. The craft is 530 feet long. Colonel Hughes, the Imperial Graves Commission's representative on Gallipoli, has arrived in London, and is preparing a report for the Australian authorities.
