LAST WEEK'S FIGURES. LESS PASSENGERS-MORE REVENUE. The tramway figures for the week ended Sunday night are the .first reliable Indication of the effect of the recent increases In fares, upon the number of passengers carried Compared with the figures for the week ended June 6, which was the- last complete week under the old fares, the figures for last 'week show a. decrease of 9561 passengers carried and an increase of £37 14s lid in revenue. Prom these figures It seems apparent that h large number of people living within the old penny sections, now prefer to walk to and from town. For the same period in 1918, the passengers earried nuirnbered 24,205, and tho revenue £167 Os id, the figures for the same period last year being 29,500 and £213 0s Id. Following are the details of last week's traffic, the figures for the week ended June 6 being also given:—
