The Industrial Disputes Committee of the Trades Hall has decided to summon a conference of representatives of the Seamen's Union and all the transport Workers' Unions to consider the future conduet of the gas workers' dispute. There is ap extremely grave possibility of extension of the trouble. It is authoritatively stated that, after the State conference is Tield, an inter-State conference will be summoned, similar to that convened during the seamen's dispute last year. Many thousands of workers are still idle. :.v The secretary of the Chamber of Manufacturers states that wages do not enter into the question now. Many employers endorse th# decision of the Chamber , of Manufacturers U$ ; boycott bodies'which agreed' to-the ineri's demands. This threaten ato jeopardise an early general settlement.
