There is ti distinctly brighter spirit in this season's cricket. , Hobbs (Surrey) leads the batting with an average of 60.84 runs per innings, Lee (Middlesex) 59.54; Henden (Middlesex), ,18.63. lihodes (Yorkshire) heads the howling with 46 wickets, average 10.15; Cook (Kent) 61, average 12. Yorkshire is leading In the County championship.
