[The story of the Broke concerns one Of the most thrilling naval actions in the war. In the pitch darkness of Dover Straits, Commander Evans, of Antarctic fame, lead a small unit against German destroyers, and won a victory remembered not so much for the fact that the German ships were destroyed, but for the remarkable daring displayed by the Britishers. The Broke rammed one enemy destroyer, and then ran alongside another, and the crew leapt on board, with cutlasses drawn. Two V.C.'s were gained by members of the Broke crew, and Commander Evans was the hero of the day].
