THE CULT OF THE JERSEY.

MR. W. A. OFFICER'S CLEARING SALE. RECORD PRICES FOR TWO-YEAR-OLDS. There was another very large attendance at the sale of pedigree and grade Jersey cattle conducted by Mr. Newton King at his Inglewood yards yesterday on behalf of Mr. W. A. Officer. The demand was again very keen and everything submitted was sold at very satisfactory prices with the exception of the* bull Belvedere Sun King, which did not reach the reserve. The cattle, which had not been rugged, were in good condition but were naturally a little rough. The quality, however, was there as may be judged from the fact that a two-year-,old heifer, Piakaiv's Jewell, bred by F. Dodunskl, realised the record price of 240 guineas, being purchased hv A. Western, of Manaia. Another heifer bred bv Mr. W. H. Tlppins, Norfolk rark's j Mermaid realised 151 guineas, being secured | by J. Dobson, of Kalmata. L. ; Hooper, Mahoe, being the purchaser. Molina's Pride, bred by .T. D. Healy, was purchased by irl Salway, of Bell Block, at 220 guineas. The eighteen cows submitted averaged 93% guineas, In all 28 animals were sold realising a total of 2682 guineas. Mr. Ken Kirk again wielded the hammer in first class style.
