NEW PLYMOUTH TRAMWAYS.
EFFECT OF INCREASED FARES. LAST WEEK'S RETURNS. The revenue from the NeW Plymouth tramways for the week ended on Sunclay night shows a good increase on that for the previous week. The increased fares caine into opera* tion on Thursday morning, but as that was the day of the opening of the Winter Show, it cannot be regarded as an indication of how the increase will affect the number of passengers carried. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday there were larger numbers of passengers carried than on the corresponding days the previous week, but on Sunday there was ft decrease of 274 passengers, and an Increased revenue of £6 10s lid. For the corresponding period last year the number of passengers carried was 36,870. and the revenue was £2BO 5s 4d. Following are the details of last week's traffic:— Passengers. Revenue.
