The first of a series of dances was held at the East End Pavilion last Wednesday, and all those present had a most enjoyable time. This pavilion promises .to be most popular for all dances this season, as the floor is unsurpassable. Mrs George's orchestra provided delightful music. WEDDING BELLS. AYLWARD-RYAN. On Wednesday, June 2nd, a pretty wedding took place in the Catholic Church, Pungarehu, when Miss Jessie' Aylward, Warea, was married to Mr. Tim Ryan, of Pahiatua. The bride, who was given away by her fathev, wore a dainty frock of white crepe de chine and filet lace, and a lace veil caught up with orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, daphne and asparagus fern. The bridesmaid (M'«> ' Ma y R y ftn) WM;e apricot cloth and a white beaver hat, and carried a bouquet of pink and white chrysanthemums. The bridegroom's brother (Mr. T. Ryan), was best man! travelling dress being a navy tailored costume. Her hat was of black velvet relieved with blue. EWING —EVANS. A quiet but very pretty wedding was solemnised at the residence of ilr. 1). K. I''. Campbell, Morrinsville, on Wednesday, June 9, the contracting parties' being Miss l.ydia Evan.-;, only daughter of the late Mr. John Evans, of Devonport, Auckland, and Mrs. J, Evans, of Morrinsville, to Mr. Kenneth Strathie Ewing, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Ewing, of New Plymouth. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Morgan Richards, of the Presbyterian Church, Morrinsville. The bride, who was given away by Mr. D. R. F. Campbell, was prettily attired in a dress of white China silk, relieved with lace and silver trimmings, with customary veil and orange blossoms, and carried a, daintly made shower bouquet. Miss Ailsa Ewing, sister of the bridegroom, and little Miss Ida Campbell, were the bridesmaids. The former looked very dainty in a white crepe de chine dress relieved with blue, while the latter charmed everyone in a rose pink tulle frock with silk jumper. Mr. D. L. Tate, of Waitara, acted as best man. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a handsome wolf fur, and to the bridesmaids a wristlet watch and bangle respectively. The happy couple left by motor for Rotorua anil Auckland, where their honeymoon will be spent. The bride's travelling costume was of grey gabadine, with rose pink hat and blouse to match. The presents were costly and numerous, including several cheques. Congratulatory telegrams were received from all parts of the Dominion.
