ONLY ONE ISLAND MATCH. SOUTHERN PROPOSAL LOST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night, Mr. Jones moved that in view of the special circumstances an additional North v. South Island match be played at Chrisrehurch on June 23. Mr. Jones said that practically every member of the committee had voted for the match in Wellington against his convictions, because the majority of inter-island matches in the last' few years had been played in Wellington. The additional expenses for a match in Christelmreh would only be £lo, and the match would bo of value in that a better selection could be made of the New Zealand team for Australia three days later. The motion was lost. Messrs. A. J. Griffiths and A. C. Kitto were appointed managers of the North Island team, and Messrs. H. Paton and J. N. Milard, managers of the South Island team. SCHOOL GRANTS.

School grants were allocated as follows: Auckland £lO, Wellington £lO, Canterbury £lO, Otago £lO, Wairarapa .-615, Manawatu £ls, Wangamii £ls, Poverty Bay ,£lo, Hawke's Bay £2O, Taranaki £2O, Bush district £lO, Marlborough £ls, Nelson £lO, West Coast £ls, Bullcr £ls, South Canterbury £ls, South Auckland £2O, Southland £ls, Bav of Plenty £ls, Whangarei £lO, Tasman £lO. The re-instatoment of the following players was granted: W, C. Hcaley i(Horowhenua), A. J. Marshall (Auckland), E. J, Tonkin (Auckland), . SOUTHERN COUNTRY TEAM. • The itinerary of the North Island tour of the South Island country team was fixed provisionally as follpws: Against Wellington, at Wellington, ■ July 31; Wairarapa, at Masterton, August 4; Napier, August 7; Manawatu, at Palmerston North, August 11; Wangamii, at Taihape, August 14; South Auckland, Hamilton, August 18; Rotorua, Aug. 21; Goldfields and Thames, at Thames, August 25; Auckland, August 28.
