FARMERS' PROBLEMS.
THE PRODUCE CONGESTION. THE NEED FOR TIMBER. By Telesrnph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The annual conference of delegates of the North Canterbury branches of the New Zealand Farmers' Union opened this morning. Mr. D. Jones, M.P., presided. In his address, Mr. Jones said the past season had been very satisfactory to producers. As to the future they were faced with a great congestion of wool and meat in the Dominion, and wool in Australia. A resolution was pusseo that the Government be asked to remove the duty on imported timbers and abolish differential railway freights; also that the. Government bo urged to push forward with afforestation, especially in regard to quick 'growing trees, with a view to supplying the needs of the dairy and fruit industries.
