THE JOCKEYS' DISPUTE.
CONFERENCE WITH OWNERS. NO AGREEMENT REACHED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A conference was held this afternoon I under the chairmanship of Mr. P. Halley, and under the provisions of the Industrial Disputes Act, between the executive of the New Zealand Jockeys' Association (represented by Messrs. Sheath, Davie, and Rae), and tho racehorse owners of New Zealand (represented by Sir G. Clifford, Messrs. J. S. McLeod'and R. Hannon). No agreement was arrived at, the racehorse owners claiming that the Association did not represent the jockeys of New Zealand, and that even if Ihey did so, it would be impossible in the interests of owners, trainers, iockeys, and the public to submit to the dictation of any one section of racing interests, especially when organiicd by outsiders.
The owners, however, expressed their willingness to receive suggestions on all matters concerned with racing fror.i individual jockeys or others connected with the sport, stating that this cour.-e had already been taken in respei-.: to proposed legislation by the forthcoming meeting of the New Zealand Earing Conference. LOOHELLA HELD UP. SEAMEN REFUSE A PASSAGE. Auckland, Last Night. The racehorse Lochella, which was to have gone to Australia by the Maheno to-night, was refused a passage by the crew,'and will probably be unable to appear at Flemington to contest the Australian Grand National.
