INFLUENZA NOT NOTIFIABLE.
ONLY THE SERIOUS OASES. By Telejrnph,—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Miniate.- of Public Health stated to-day tlylt influenza- is not to be a notifiable; disease any longer, and that notifications will cease in a week or so. Pneumonic cases and cases of great severity will he notified under their proper medical descriptions, but fiimplo Influenza will not be notified. These serioils cases will in future be an index. of the severity or otherwise of sickness in the country. During this last wave the notifications have not been .of any assistance to anyone. About one ner cent, of the eases notified have been serious, and every notification carries a fee of 3s (Id to the medical man. The cost of this ratification plan during the recant wave has been no less than •£ISOO. Mr. Parr said that the decision to cease the notification of Influenza is in conformity with the practice adopted in other countries recently. >
