In the House of Commons, at question time, Mr. Austen Chamberlain (Chancellor of the Exchequer) stated that after carefully considering the suggested scheme for a. levy on war wealth in the report of the committee on war wealth, the Government had concluded that the dangers of such a levy altogether outweighed the advantages. It had been decided, therefore, not to carry out the proposals.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
