PUKEKURA PARK FUND.

THE £IOOO EFFORT. The effort at present being made to' raise a sum of £IOOO for Pitkekura Park, though not always prominently before the public in the form of some special appeal, is nevertheless being quietly but steadily prosecuted by those who are at the back of the movement. Donations continue to come to hand, a little more slowly at some times than others, and in different little ways the fund is gradually being increased. There is still some distance to go, however, before the target aimed at is reached, and the public may expect to hear more of the appeal in the coming weeks between now and when the present campaign is expected to bo brought to a conclusion. Plans are being laid for gradually working up to a grand culminating eifort in Park Gala Week, which is fixed' for August flth to 14th (inclusive). It is anticipated that some new and attractive form of entertainment will be arranged for each day of that week as a moans of gathering in every pound that can be secured to help make the Park the most beautiful and attractive of all the beauty spots with which the town is so richly endowedWhat flowers are seasonable at all times will be turned into money for the fund, and promises of violets and daffodils are now being received by Mrs. Burgess, who has quite a lot promised already. The sala week will bo also a "Daffodil Week," and any quantity of blooms will be acceptable for that occasion. The following further donations to the fund are gratefully acknowledged:

£ s. d. Mr. H. Grcig - 22 0 Mrs. S. A. Bailey .- fi 0 Mr. Brorlie ~.■ 1 1 0 Mr. McKellar ~ 10 0 Mr. W. A. Morton 1 0 0 Weston and Billing 22 0 Small sums 13 0
