NO LIQUOR.

AMERICA DEFINITELY DRY. RULING OF THE COURT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Received June 8, 5.5 p.m. New York, June 7. The last hope of the "wests'' was destroyed by the decision of tho United States Supreme Court upholding the constitutional prohibition decision. -This means the Volstead Act, prohibiting the sale of any beverage containing one half of one per cent, or more alcohol, must be enforced in every State, regardless of whether that State individually ratified the amendment to the constitution. ' Amendments to the State law allowing the alcoholic content as enacted in New Jersey, Wisconsin and Rhode Island are nullified. The decision dispels 1 the hope of the brewing interests that their properties could manufacture light beers and wines. The result is regarded as a complete victory for the prohibition forces, settling for all time the question of the legality of the Volstead amendment.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
