BUTTER RISES.
RETAIL PBICfcS Id MORE. In a statement issued on Saturday by the Director-General of Agriculture a slight rise in the price of butter was foreshadowed. "All butter of this season's make now in store," it was stated, "including whatever Bmall quantity may bo made between now and July 31st, wiil be made available for consumption within the Dominion at fixed maximum prices, which will bo Is f>3d per lb for bulk butter, ex freezing store, and Is 9d retail. The Order-in-Couneil necessary for giving effect to this ia nowbeingprepared, and when this is gazetted tne new prices will come into operation. This small increase in prices ,is necessary, it is explained, in order to meet extra charges entailed by storage, handling, interest, etc., over the pwkd during which the supply of butter now in the Dominion will be available for local consumption. The present controlled prices are la 5d per lb for bulk butter, ex factory door, and Is 8d retail." - -
