HIGHER TRAM FARES.
NEW PLYMOUTH INCREASES. TWOPENNY MINIMUM ADOPTED, CONCESSIONS REDUCED The New Plymouth Borough Counoil last night decided that, in order to meet the increased cost of running the tramway system, through the increases in pay granted to employees in Wie service, fares would have to be increased, and a minimum cash fare of 2d for the first section travelled was adopted. The result of the proposition sub. mitted to the Council wa« as follows! All sections remain as at present, A minimum cash fare of 2d Ml' adopted and Id to be added to all other cash fares namely; First section 2d; 2nd. section 3d; 3rd section' 4d; 4th section sd; 6th section Gd; oth section 7d. Twelve-ride concession tickets will bs issued as follows: One section Is 6d, two sections 2s Od, three sections 3a 6d, four sections 4s od, five sections 5s Bd, six sections 0s 6d. The present Is cards will be stamped as student tickets, giving 12 one-section trips, the tickets to be subject to the 6ame restrictions as at present imposed on such tickets. The 4d luggage tickets remain as at present. Increases' in the workers concession tickets were fixed as follows: Second* eection, six trips, and return, 2s; third section, six trips arid return, 2s 8d; fourth section, six trips and return, 3s 3d; fifth section, six trips and return 4s; sixth section, six trips, and return, 4s »d. No concession tickets will be available on Sundays, Christmas Day, or Good Friday.
