NEXT WEEK'S CONFERENCE. CLTFTON COUNTY VIEWS. Local bodies' contributions to the Taranaki Hospital Board formed the subject of a short discussion at the meeting of the Clifton County Council yesterday. The Taranaki County Council invited Clifton to appoint two delegates to attend a conference to he held at New Plymouth on the 9th inst., to consider the question of contributions paid by local authorities to the Taranaki hospital district. Cr. Musker said it was very evident that something should be (Tone. They were paying £7OO, and now were going up 50, per cent., and this meant that less money would be available to be spent on roads. Cr. Pennington agreed that the levies were very high. He also thought it unfortunate that some people obliged to use the hospital paid' the bare fees when they might contribute more. Cr. Musker and Foreman as delegates, the chairman being unable to be present.
