AN ELECTION PETITION.
QUESTION OF TTIF, DEPOSIT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, f.a>t Night. Reserved judgment was delivered by Mr. McCarthy, SM, in the petition apainst Hie return of Messrs. Roag and Surry as members of the Lyttelton Harbor Board. The petition alleged certain irregularities in respect of the nomination deposit. The Magistrate over-ruled the petition and declared the two candidates duly elected. He made no order for ccsts, remarking that the attitude of the returning officer and his assistants before the closing of nominations was calculated to create an impression that neHher aandidates named had lodged a dqosit.
