VISIT TO NEW PLYMOUTH. ,
SHORT STAY ON JULY 8.
On oral Sir William Birdwood, the distinguished soldier, fondly described m •the Soul of Anzac," will pay ft short visit to New Plymouth on Thursday, Juiy 8. , The Borough Council has received a letter from the Hon. G. J- Anderson (Minister of Internal' Affairs) stating that, according to present arrangements, General Birdwood, accompanied by his wife and daughter, will arrive in New Plymouth on the morning of Thursday, July 8, and will leave the same day for Wansmnui. It was asked that a, citio welcome should be extended to the disttnguished visitor, and also tlmt the returned soldiers, who have been communicated with by the military authorities, shonld also entertain him. ' The matter was before the Borough Council at last night's meeting, when it was decided to arrange for ft civic reception and a fitting welcome to General Birdwood.
