S. Paton and J. Simpson. The best: scores were: Paton and Simpson, 3 up: MaeKay and Johnson, l up; Bewley and Anderson, all square; Johns and Osborne, 2 down. LADIES' MATCH. The first round of tho Brewster Cup was completed last week, the results being:— Miss Go'dwater beat Miss D, Simpson, fi up and Ji to play; Mrs .Johns won from Mrs McQunde by default: Mrs, Butcher beat. Miss Read, 0 and 4; Miss Rollo beat Miss Gilbert, fi and r,; air*. Nicholson beat Miss Stanford, 5 up and 1; Mrs. Gray beat. Miss Bremer, « up; Miss Greig won from Mrs. C. n. Wenton by default. The following is the draw for the second round: Miss Goldwater plays Mrs. Johns; Mrs. Butcher plays Miss Thomson; Miss Rollo plays Mrs. Nicholson: Mrs. Gray plays Miss Greig. A medal match for limit handicap players will be played to-morrow. Players will start from No. 9 tee and play 14 holes. They will choose their opponents. Tho winner will receive a brassy presented by Miss Stephenson. NEW PLYMOUTH v. HAWERA. Tho annual match between New Plymouth and Hawera will be played at Waiwakaiho on Thursday. The teams will consist of eighteen players, and games will be played throughout the day, commencing at 10 a.m. STRATFORD CLUB. The first monthly ladies' bogey competition held by the Stratford Cluh resulted as follows Mrs. Curtis, handicap 11, 5 down; Mrs. Rutherford, 21 —8; Mrs. Burmester, 11 —10; Mrs. Richards, 23—10; Mrs. King, 27—12; Mrs. Abraham, 15—12; Mrs. Budge, 15—14; Mrs. Christie, 18—14; Mrs. Glasgow, 19—14; Miss Hanken, 27—14; Mrs. Lyons. 27—14. Mrs. Curtis qualified and also takes the golf ball. The match waa played in rough weather. NOTES/ The recent rains havo made the gTeens at Waiwakaiho soft, and they must be treated carefully for some time. In driving sheep away from a green, players should exercise care that the sheep are not made to run, for If they do they cause great damage to tho turf, Tho committee also request, that members assist in preserving tho greens by wearing low heels, and taking care not to walk on the side of their heels. Tho other day all the greens were marked by improper heels. A prize of £1 has been donated to the New Plymouth Club for the best net score of the season.
