The Star's Apia correspondent writes that tin; issue by tlic Administrator of a puclamation under which a large number of German residents are to be sent back to their native land, came as a bombshell to the local community. The. German nationals, whom it is proposed to repatriate and whose property rights are to be liquidated, are divided into two main elapses. Class A comprises persons of German nationality and blood, exclusive of those married to persons of Samoan descentClass 1!, persons of German nationali'v and hlnr.d married to Samoar.s or persons of Samoan descent. "hn.vior the authorities are influenced by the consideration that this class ha' intermarried with persons of Samoan blo<xl, and that their presence here is justified in many enscs by parental relation to half-caste families who renuire maintenance and parental control. The value of the property of those repatriated is to be assessed before their departure, and they are to be pro- j vided with a warrant for pavment by j the German Government of the amount due.
