HOSTEL FOR GIRLS.
NEW PLYMOUTH SCHEME. A meeting was lield in the Soldiers' Club last night to further arrangements in connection with the establish-ing-of a girls' hostel in New Plymouth. The Mayor (Mr. ,las. Clarke) presided. After a full inquiry into various organisations controlling hostels, Mr. R. W. IX Robertson moved, find Mr. H. Baily seconded, ''that this meeting start a girls' hostel in New Plymouth, and that this hostel he run under the management of a. citizens' committee.'' The motion was carried unanimously. It. was decided that an appeal should lie made through the columns of the local Press for the raising of funds to purchase and furnish such a hostel. The men's advisory committee on Monday inspected several buildings, and have one in view which will serve the- purpose of a hostel admirably. The ladies' committee is to iftieet shortly for the purpose of deciding upon means for raising funds. It was decided to appoint a secretary for both committees, but the appointments were held in abeyance till a further meeting.
