MINISTER OF EDUCATION.

. REACHES HAVvERA TO-NIGHT. The Minister of F.ducation (the Hon. C. J. l'arr) readies lluvveru by the mail train to-night to commence his visit to Taranaki. The Minister wjll receive deputations at Hawera, and to-morrow lie will proceed to Eltham. The Minister is due to reaeli Stratford at one o'clock to-morrow afternoon, and after he lifts had lunch the Stratford School Cor.t;iittee will wait on him with reference to the establishment of a hostel and to the obtaining of a subsidy for a lunch room. The committee will also bring before the Minister's notice the .difficulty of obtaining supplies of cement for the new Technical School. A deputation from the Ngaere School Committee will also attend to urge the need for the erection of a new school residence. Following the School Committees, a deputation from the Stratford Hospital Board will wait on the Minister to bring before his notice the burden that is imposed on local bodies, through the hospital boards, of maintaining children in industrial schools, and will make special reference to individual cases under notice. The deputation will urge that the State should shoulder the whole of the cost in such cases. The Minister will reach New Plymouth late to-morrow afternoon. He will remain here until Friday morning, carrying out the programme published yesterday.
