PLUNKET SOCIETY.

The local branch of the Plunket Society held & special meeting yesterday afternoon. Present: Mesdames Burgess (in the chair), 8. Smith', BarUiorpc, Standish, Ambury, Nicholson, Dufl, R, Cock, D. Brown, Roebuck, McHatdy, Stuart Russell, and Miss Stanford. Apologies ivero received from Mesdames Ross, •l\ Shaw, Millar, Jenkins*, «nU .Newton King. H was decided that, at the Winter Show, the Society should have a rest room for wethers and babies, the Defence Department having kindly consented tc give the use of «ne of its rooms. All appliances for the comfort of mothers and babies, including heating apparatus for bottles, etc., will bo in this room. The secretary for the Winter Show has kindly allotted space in the hall near to the rest loom, where Plunket Nurse Williams will demonstrate in bed-making, etc.,' and where Plunket patterns of baby clothes will be sold. All members of the committee expressed their willingness to attend and help at stated times. There will be a meeting of members at the Plunket rooms on -Tuesday. June 1, at 10 a.m., for the purpose of cutting patterns, etc. The meeting then discussed the yearly effort for raising money for the Society. Mrs. Burgess moved: "That the yearly Plunket effort should tike the form of a baby contest, and also that a baby carnival and baby show should be held during Dominion Baby Week, in Kawaroa Park.'* This was unanimously carried, and committee members will, for the present, sew at their homes, to get In readlnesti for a baby clothes' stall, but In a short time sewing bees will be arranged, \rfi£'Q It Is hoped (hot nil interested j will help bf donations of material, wool, or by giving orders for baby clothes to be made.
