Details of the proposals submitted by Mr. Hughes to the Premiers' ponference for a uniform railway gauge show it is Intended to connect the capitals from Brisbane to Perth with a 4ft B(Ain gauge, the mainland States to contribute the cost on a per capita basis, and the Commonwealth also contributing its quota. The Commonwealth is to make arrangements for raising the money by issuing non-negotiable bonds for a "fixed period. A motion was carried recommending each State to legislate for the control of air navigation, pending Commonwealth legislation. Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
