Leary, laj lor ami Co. cleared, Anderson, and later, rox, drove them back, and fast following up by the Okato pack smothered Quickfall. Brown fame to the rescuo with a nice kick. Weak play by Whenare let the locals through, jjnd play hung round midfield. Heady play by H. Corbett and McCarthy, combined with fast following up, had Quick-fall again In trouble, but Hooker came to his assistance Brown opened out, but R. Oliver failed to take the ball, and Okato forwards again attacked. From a free kick, Mk-Carthv attempted to pot, but the ball kept low, and R. Oliver returned to near Okato's 25. Here Qulckfall secured, and kicked across the field, where Andrews gathered up the leather, and passed to Hooker, who got over, but was called back for off-side play. Later Hooker secured a nice mark, and Brown made a good attempt to pot, a force resulting. Rain now came on, and Tukapa continuing the pressure, Boswe-H was nearly over. D. Fox, however, marked, and the Okato pack following fast, transferred play right to the other end of the field, where Brown was collared with the ball, but Boswell saved by forcing. From the kick off Tukapa gained tho u n per hand, and a passing rush saw R. Oliver'collared when dangerous, and a little later Hooker had a shot from a penalty, Fox forcing. Tnkapa were now having the better of the game, but safe fielding and kicking by Corbett, McCarthy, and Anderson kept them out, until a nice passing movement between R. Oliver. Brown, and Andrews saw the latter streak for the line, and though tackled at the corher, his weight carried him over. Hooker made a fine but resultless attempt to convert. Okato pressed on resuming, McCarthy being prominent, but Qulckfall saved and Tukapa.. were forced. J. Corbett then headed an Okato forward rash, the ball going out near Tukapa's lino just as half-time was called.
On resuming Tukapa tried to make the gnifne I open, but tho greasy ball was hard to handle | and the Okato forwards Intercepted, and set ttp a rush from which Shotter and McCarthy were nearly over, a force ensuing. Soon after resuming Tukapa backs made two fine • dashes, Hooker running through and passing ' out, but Okato tackled well, and Boswell also made a nice dash. Gradually, however, Okato forwards gained the upper hand, and K. Fox was able to line at half-way. A little later Andrews checked a promising Okato movement. Play was now up and down field, and as the result of passing rushes, aided by on the part of their opponents, Tukapa pressed, and Okato were forced. Okato forwards wero now playing with great ginger, and gave their opponents anxious moments A free kick for Infrlnge•mcnts. however, gave Tukapa relief on Severn/ occasions. Taylor and Allen headed a Tukapa rush to mid-field. Okato were soon back again, and from a free kick Vox made an attempt, to goal. Being conceded no charge he handled the ball, and was of course* Im- i mediately charged. McCarthy secured, and cutting in. beat several men and a score looked imminent, when he slipped, and a force resulted. For the next few moments nlay was dangerously close to Tukapa's line and Shotter. H. Corbett. and McCarthy made strenuous efforts to score, getting over the line on two occasions, but forces wero the onlv result. Tukapa now took a hand, and rushed down the field, but Whenare was able to reach the ball first. Hanging on, however, he gave Hooker another chance to goal, but only a force resulted. Play ceased soon after with no alteration to the score, which read Tukapa 3, Okato nil. Mr. V. O. West gave every satisfaction as referee. CLIFTON (81) v. UNITED (0). After some difficulty and considerable delay, United managed to gather 13 phi vers to puf. !n the field against. Clifton at the Recreation Ground, but the game could scarcely be called a match. The visitors, who showed fine form, simply ran over their opponents and play was scarcely ever outside the United'* territory. The first try was scored in a few minutes after play commenced, and S George kicked a fine goal. While the Clifton backs showed how surely they could handle the ball even while very greasy, the
