EXPORT OF POTATOES.

THE AUSTRALIAN EMBARGO. By Telegraph.—Press Associniion. Christehurch, Last Night. A promise that an endeavor would be made to have certain restrictions lifted so as to permit the export of potatoes to Australia was made to-day to a deputation by Mr. McDonald, representing the Board of Trade. Mr. McDonald stated lie would recommend the Minister of Customs ;o permit of the embargo on the export ol' potatoes being lifted for ft period of two months. Mr. McDonald also made a promise that regarding the embargo on the exportation of potatoes into the Commonwealth he would make inquiries ami representations with a view to the restrictions being lifted if it were possible.
