THE JOCKEYS' DISPUTE.
LABOR TAKES A HAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. For the purpose of giving organised Labor an opportunity to learn the facts about the strike of jockeys at Avondale, a meeting was held in the Trades Hall to-night. There was a fairly good attendance, which was presided over by Mr. F. Robson, president of the Canterbury Trades and Labor Council. The meeting was addressed by Messrs. C. C. Sheath (secretary of the Jockeys' Association), H. Davies (South Island representative of the Jockeys' Association), E. J. Howard, J. MeCombs, D. JSullivan, MP.'s.
The meeting endorsed the resolutions recently carried by Auckland unions, and also decided to ask the local members of Parliament to urge the Minister of Internal Affairs to suspend the issue of totalisator permits till the dispute is settled, and that suspended jockejs be reinstated.
