STRUCK BY MAIN TRUNK EXPRESS. MYSTERY OF THE INCIDENT, By Teletraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The passage of the Main Trunk train , that left Auckland for Wellington last , evening was interrupted in the PaerataPukckohc section through the engine com* ing in contact with a post that was ly»> ing close to, but not, according to offl» cittl advice, across the line. On the cow-eateher striking the object the engine-driver alighted, and, placing it aboard the train, the journey wa« con* tinned to Pukekohe, where another halt was called to permit of tno post being handed over to the station-master. Later it was deposited with the police in that Uistrict, and investigations concerning tha incident are now proceeding.
