egmont racing club. CONCLUDING DAY'S RESULTS. marqueteur wins again. The Egmont winter meeting was Drought to a successful conclusion at yesterday in fine but cold weather. There was again a large attendanee. As on the first day racing was very interesting, the fields being large and tie finishes, i n the majority of cases, close. Marqueteur, well 'ridden by ay, repeated his performance of the previous day by winning the principal open flat race. Lulce also registered a ! double win by annexing the principal steeplechase. Speculation was brisk throughout the day, the totalisator staff (under Mr. frank Moore) having a busy time. Considerable money wa? shut out in the early races owing to the machine being dosed prompt to time, but in the latter races investors made their investments early, and some big sums were handled. A sum of £6900 was passed through on the last race. Altogether £33,921 was put through for the seven races, as compared with £31,77, 10s for the second day last year, an increase of £2143 10s. The total for ihe meeting was £09,840, as compared with £ (50,400 10s last veai\ tin increase- of £9,378 10s. This year t!>ev» van an extra race, on which £3,410 was invested. The races yesterday were got off v,'e]l to time, a decided improvement on the first day. There were eight withdrawals, Including Income, Penona, and Oak Abbey. Crucelle was made favorite, carrying over four figures. American Beauty and Samarnng were next in demand. From a. good start Samarang was the first to take the lead, and practically led to the straight, Quiniro and American Beauty being handy. Once in the home stretch the little fancied Big Push came with a rattle, and won by three lengths from Quiniro, who, after a ding dong go for second place, beat American Beauty by a head. Arrowfleld was the first to break the line and passed the stand just in front of Blue Cross, with Perfect Day and Marqueteur next. After a couple of furlongs Blue Cross had a couple of "lengths advantage, but along the back Simon assumed command. Perfect Day also moved up, and turned for home first. Simon quickly displaced the favorite, and the pair were fighting out a good finish, when Gray brought Marqueteur along on the rails and gained the verdict by threo parts of a length.
