THE EXPORT OF POTATOES. B.v Telegraph—Press Association Christchurch, May 12The secretary of the Canterbury Potato Growers' Association lias cabled to the Minister of Agriculture in Sydney asking for definite information regarding the restriction of the iraportaton of New Zealand potatoes. The Federal Quarantine Officer replied that owing to the existence of serious potato diseases importation into Australia was prohibited.
YOUTHFUL EMBEZZLER,
Dunedin, May 12. A youth named Robert Henrv Brockie pleaded guilty in the Police Court today to charges of converting to his own use sums totalling £302, the property of his employer. The accused, whose age is 16, was employed in a solicitor's office, and trust moneys which were given him to bank were used. About *IOO of the money was spent in joy. riding, including one ride to Christchurch, where lie was arrested. £lB7 was found in his possession, and Bome cheques for small amounts were also recovered. The accused was committed for sentence.
