REPORT OF DISEASE DENIED. By Telegraph.-—Press Association. Oamaru, Last Night A conference of the South Island lotato Growers' Association was held at Oamaru to-night; Mr J. A. Johnston presiding. Several remits from the North Canterbury, South Canterbury, and the Walmate Associations were endorsed. Consideration was given to a cable stating that the importation of potatoes into the Commonwealth from New Zealand was prohibited on account of a serious disease. The secretary was Instructed to forward a. copy of the cable to the Minister of Agriculture, and Mr. Burnett, M.P., stating that there, was no disease in the crop, and asking for an investigation.

It was decided a deputation should wait on the Premier and the Minister of Agriculture for the purpose of laying before them the present unsatisfactory state of the potato market.
