Regarding the decision of tho Tarnnakl Referees' Association not .to appoint referees where ehibs were im, default and refusing to appoint referees for Star matches, tife position has been explained by the secretary of the Star Club (Mr. J. A. Clarke) that it was owing, to Illness that the Star Club was in default regarding tho expenses of the referee or a match that was forfeited. This was the first occasion upon which such a position had arisen. The club In the past had always met their financial obligations with extreme promptitude.
Mr. \ Clarke also takes exception to the Referees' Association supplying to the Press on Tuesday night a statement that' the Star Club was in default, when th;i fee had been paid on Tuesday morning. , THE THURSDAY COMPETITION. Tlie Star thirds for Thursday matches have been withdrawn from the competition.
