ACTION IN CHRISTOHURCH, ROYAL RACES THREATENED. . Christchurch, Last Night. A public meeting of members of labor unions, convened by the Canterbury Trades and Labor Council, is to be held at Christchurch on Kjiday night to consider the northern jockeys' dispute, and it is suggested in certain quarters that unless an early conference of the Jockeys' Association and the employers is arranged there may possibly be trouble at the Royal race meeting at Riccarton on Saturday. SYMPATHY FROM PRINTERS. Christchurch, Last Night. , The executive of the New Zealand Related Printing Trades Association considered the jockeys' complaints, and passed the following resolution:— "Tim executive, representative of over 1000 printers, desires to express its sincere sympathy with the members of the New Zealand Jockeys' Association in their fight for better conditions of employment. It deplores the delay which has occurred in bringing the parties to the dispute together, which has been caused by the refusal of the employers to negotiate with the representatives' of the New Zealaad Jockeys' Association. The executive respectfully request the Minister of Labor to use his best endeavors to compel owners to meet representatives of the jockeys at the earliest possible moment. It is further of opinion that the conditions of employment of jockeys require immediate improvement."
